I’m not sure what it is about these trees that really got my attention. The burlap sacks they are wrapped in, the mulch they stand in, or the red brick wall behind them. The reality is they are just a few trees in front of some house. But they conjure up something quite differwent in the back of my mind, a sense of violence, and impending doom. Or just trees maybe, I dunno.

  1. I know a lady who loves (obsessed might be more appropriate) with taking pictures of shrubs wrapped in burlap- I believe she prefers the forms in the winter- with the shrubs somewhat covered in snow. They are such noble shapes- guards of the door, or the statues from The Lion, the witch and the wardrobe (once living things turned to stone)….you’re totally right- there is a disconcerting feeling with them.
